Client Testimonial -
To fully appreciate the skill and talent of Gary and Nial, you really need to have some idea of the truly dreadful state that our nineteen thirties wood block floor had got into.
The edges were stained a drab brown and the centre had been left untreated.
Years of fitted carpets had left the edges full of rusty nail holes (and nails) and over time most of the blocks had separated from what turned out to be an uneven sub floor.
Just about the only thing which held the floor in place was the fact that the blocks were tongue and grooved – though the problem then was that it was really difficult for the men to actually lift the blocks as they were firmly attached to each other – just not to the floor.
I find it hard to adequately describe the years of paint splashes, dropped objects which left gouges on the blocks, broken perimeter blocks and the fact that, frankly, the blocks barely even met the skirting in far too many places.
Gary and Nial spent two days just getting the floor into a decent state for sanding. They removed centre blocks to the edge so that where new wooden blocks were placed would not be too obvious to the eye. They put new blocks where some were missing and they really struggled to stop the blocks rocking on the even floor.
The important thing is that they solved every problem that they faced.
The floor now looks tremendous: better than I could ever have hoped. The estimate from the company gave little real idea of the amount of work which was required and I can now see exactly why four days was pencilled in for the job.
I could not have expected anyone to work harder than they did. They must have stopped for breaks though I seldom noticed them having a rest. They were obviously keen to ensure that the job was done as carefully and as well as it possibly could be – and they have succeeded.
They were a delight to have in the house.
We were genuinely surprised how little mess the actual sanding made. We had expected to find sawdust everywhere. In fact, apart from a trivial amount of dust underneath the door, there was no mess at all around the house.
I cannot recommend them highly enough.
Thanks so much
